About the event

Mitigating Implicit Bias in the Interview Process

Hiring and retaining a diverse workforce remains a challenge across the Northwest—not because qualified candidates are lacking, but because our practices don’t always help us recognize our bias or support an inclusive and equitable hiring process. This workshop offers practical tools to strengthen interviews and move your organization toward a multicultural, Belonging-centered culture. Participants will examine how implicit bias and stereotype threat show up during interviews, review key research, and explore strategies to reduce bias so panelists are prepared, culturally responsive, and grounded in practices that promote equity and inclusion.

Objectives—Participants will:

  1. Develop a clear understanding of implicit bias and the impact of stereotype threat.

  2. Learn strategies for establishing an effective, culturally responsive, and bias-free interview committee.
